Want to be a great player? Want to be a great coach?
Well you can. But you’ll have to take note of the latest research in neuroscience and psychology. It’s turned traditional coaching and training on its head. And in ways you wouldn’t expect. For example, it shows what methods give better results than others. Methods like:
- Analogy or metaphor learning;
- Offline learning; and
- Proprioceptive learning.
The beauty of these techniques is they lead to better learning retention and learning transfer. And they are resistant to the stress players inevitably encounter in competition.
The research also tells us how players can avoid things which can easily cause their game to nose dive. Things like:
- Choking;
- Verbal overshadowing; and
- The Polar Bear Effect.
And finally, the research dispels myths such as ‘keep your eye on the ball’. It tells us what our brain and eyes are really doing when we’re working out where the ball is going. And how we can make use what they’re doing to play better.
But there’s a stumbling block. The research can be hard to find. And it’s hard to read, understand and translate it into something players and coaches can use.
This is where I come in.
I’ve been gathering the research and making sense of it. And I’ve put it together so you can easily read it and use it. You’ll find it in my free articles and in my ebooks.
